During the Second Republic, Santa Coloma de Queralt changed its name to Segarra de Gaià, and the peseta coin stamped by the Republican city council was called a 'Segarreta'. We consider ourselves the sons of the Segarra region and the Gaià river. Sons of the wheat and barley grown in the Segarra fields and of the aromatic hop that can be found on the riverbank of the Gaià.
